Former Black Stars Player Turns Street Beggar


Former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko striker, Abubakari Gariba has turned a street beggar.

The talented footballer who was nicknamed “Goal Na mefif3” which translated from Twi means ‘all I’m looking for is a goal’ has not been living well after his career ended.

In an excerpts of a yet to be premiered video by Saddick Adams of Atinka FM, the player says he hasn’t been treated well after all he sacrificed for the nation.

And so to ensure he doesn’t starve, he has no other choice but to take to the streets of Tamale and beg for alms.

Abubakari Gariba joined Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 1964 and was part of Kotoko’s team that won the African Cup in 1971.


He was the team’s top goal scorer during that competition.


Abubakari Gariba during his prime also played for Ghana during the 1972 Munich Olympic games.
